In order to find out if you are a candidate there a few personal questions that need to be answered:
Do YOU wear contact lenses and if so what kind?

If you wear soft contact lenses they need to be out at least 2 weeks prior to the final assessment, and if you wear hard contact lenses they need to be out for a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the final assessment.
How old are YOU?
Age is a factor for this surgery. If you are under 21 the eye may still be changing making it difficult to determine the amount of lasering required. Otherwise your prescription needs to be stable for at least 2 years so we can be somewhat assured that some stability has been gained.
How is YOUR general health?
There are certain systemic disorders that are contraindicated for Refractive surgery. Do you suffer from any of the following:

Another thing to consider is if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant in the near future. During pregnancy water retention can make your vision fluctuate, again making it difficult to determine your exact prescription. You should wait about six months after delivery before pursuing this surgery and longer if breast feeding is continued.
