Does Laser Eye Surgery Hurt?

During PRK or LASIK refractive eye surgery there is typically no pain and very little discomfort.

A feeling of tenderness is a common comment following the surgery, this is usually associated with the speculum used to keep the eye open during the surgery and disappears quite quickly. A feeling that “there is something there” is another comment made, and this can usually be associated with the contact lens which is inserted after the surgery.

A technician from our Centre will be calling you that evening to check up on how you are doing, as well you are given Dr. Jans’s home telephone number in case any problems arise.
