Dr. Ronald G. Jans obtained his medical degree from the University of Alberta and practiced for two years as a General Practitioner before specializing in Ophthalmology with a sub-specialty in Corneal and External Eye Disease. He has been practicing in Calgary for the past 28 years Since the advent of Excimer Laser technology in 1987, Dr. Jans has been involved with refractive corneal procedures. He was instrumental in obtaining one of the first VISX Excimer Laser in Canada. Since that time, he has been involved with many clinical research projects involving laser refractive surgery. He was the first President of the Canadian Association of Photo refractive Surgeons of Canada, now known as the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and is now a member of the Board of Directors. 

As a Corneal Specialist, Dr. Jans’s considerable knowledge and skill in performing Excimer Laser surgery is a major advantage to his patients.
