PRK

Photorefractive Keratectomy is a procedure used to correct myopia and hyperopia with or without astigmatism.Photorefractive Keratectomy is a procedure used to correct myopia and hyperopia with or without astigmatism.

With PRK, Dr. Jans removes a thin layer of tissue (epithelium – outer most layer of the front of the eye) in order to expose the central cornea and with the Visx S4 laser reshapes the cornea for the prescription required.

The epithelium re-generates in approximately 24-48 hours to produce the original smooth surface.
